Updated September 26, 2026, for StreamSave 2.3.0
StreamSave processes media on your device. The extension has no developer-operated backend, analytics, advertising, or telemetry, and does not upload your downloaded media or browsing records to its publisher.
Information used to find and save media
With website access enabled, StreamSave observes media request URLs, Referer and Origin request headers, and response content types, and inspects page titles, video elements, and loaded resource URLs in accessible tabs and frames. It uses this information to detect downloadable media, name files, and show previews. Pasted media links, selected tracks, playlists, subtitles, and media bytes are used to perform your requested downloads and recordings.
Media URLs can contain access tokens. Page titles, filenames, media, subtitles, and track metadata may themselves contain personal information. StreamSave does not intentionally read passwords, payment details, messages, or unrelated form contents.
What stays on your device
- Session storage: detected media links and queued source links, including any tokens within those links, and the observed Referer/Origin context needed to request that media. Temporary exact-URL header rules are also session-only. This session data clears when Chrome restarts; detected entries also clear when a tab navigates or closes.
- Local settings and history: quality and concurrency preferences, notification settings, download titles, filenames, status, errors, sizes, and Chrome download identifiers. History keeps up to 100 ordinary finished entries plus current and recoverable jobs.
- Temporary and recovery media: captured segments, initialization data, selected subtitle text, and track metadata stored in Chrome's local origin-private file system. Recovery checkpoints omit original source URLs and credentials.
- Previews: video thumbnails held in panel memory, not uploaded to the publisher.
- Saved files: downloads written to your computer by Chrome. Chrome separately maintains its own download history.
Network requests and sharing
Finding media, loading previews, downloading, and recording send requests directly to the media websites and their delivery servers. Those services receive your IP address and normal request information; Chrome may attach existing website credentials or cookies when allowed. StreamSave does not read Chrome's cookie database or copy Cookie/Authorization headers. It reuses observed Referer and Origin headers only for requests to the original media origin, with temporary rules limited to its own requests. HTTP links are not encrypted in transit; HTTPS links use encrypted transport.
The extension does not sell data or send it to advertising, analytics, or data-broker services. It does not transfer data for creditworthiness or lending decisions. Data is used only to find, display, save, and recover the media you request. The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Use Clear finished to remove ordinary finished extension history. Recoverable entries remain until you choose Save recovered media or Discard recovery. Successful saves, explicit cancellation, and discarding recovery remove the corresponding temporary media. Failed captures retain committed media for recovery until you save or discard it; Chrome can also evict local storage.
Close and restart Chrome to clear session source links. Removing the extension removes its extension storage. Files already saved to your computer and Chrome's own download history must be deleted separately. Restrict website access in Chrome's extension settings to control access to websites.
Notifications and support
Notifications are optional and off by default. If enabled, they can display a download filename or title through Chrome and your operating system. StreamSave is published by PM Ventures. For privacy questions, email support@streamsave.app. If you send a support request, the publisher receives the information you choose to include; do not send private media links, access tokens, cookies, or passwords.
Changes
This policy will be updated when the extension's data handling changes. The date above identifies this version.
